IT'S NOT HALLOWEEN UNTIL YOU HEAR THIS

Thriller has never been my favourite MJ song BUT it was the #1 80's Hallowe'en anthem.
Here are some others....
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters two
Somebody's watching me

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Back in the 80's everyone from the Goonies, Michael Jackson's Thriller zombie, Teen Wolves, Ghostbusters, Maverick from Top Gun, Madonna Wannabee's....would come out to haunt us.
Not that different from any other day in the 80's LMAO.
If you are looking to make a DIY 80's themed Halloween costume, here is a neat site:
WISHING YOU ALL A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN.

HOW A FEW INNOCENT WORDS CAN THROW ME IN TO AN OBSESSIVE REDECORATING NIGHTMARE

About a month ago, Wyatt and I were visiting Parker at her mother's home.
Parker's mother's home is beautiful and pristine.
As Parker hands me a coffee in the kitchen, she points to two stylish decor accents and says: "OMG! I hate knickknacks!"
My reply: "Then don't come to our house. Our heritage home looks like a doll house and seems to be where all varieties of knickknacks and crafts go to die."
I came home that day and looked at our house.
Unorganised, full of knickknacks and collections and crafts and pets and everything under the sun.
In my head, I made a commitment to Parker to declutter my house.
Not an undertaking for the faint of heart.
For example, I have two sewing machines in my living room and two large (built by me) Victorian dollhouses and if you were to look under my dining room table (PLEASE never look under there) I have a Yudu screen printing machine, big boxes of old photos, craft paint, and bags and bags and bags of fabric....and a couple of cats, I am sure.
So here I am, a month in to this disaster and I haven't touched the living room or dining room crap.
BUT my family room has been torn apart and is ready for a new ceiling and some accent walls and ready for a Pottery Barn overhaul.
After this is all completed, Wyatt promises that he is going to clean out the garage....the garage is the biggest area of hoarder shame.
I think it would be easier to strike a match and throw it at the 10 red gasoline cans.

NEW LOVE TOWARDS THE BLUE MOON

This is the neatest thing I've heard in a while.
This makes all the craziness seem so minor and
reaffirms my belief that the Universe knows what its doing!!!

AN ODE TO THE BLUE MOON

The moon will be full in the sky tonight and fyi, it is the second full moon of the month of August.
To make matters all the more concerning, it will be a Blue Moon.
This MUST be why people have been behaving like lunatics.
This MUST be why people are douches.
This IS why I am at my antisocial max.
If the moon is not to blame, then.......well then......it may be time to consider wearing a disguise or relocating or faking my death LOL!
My ode to the Moon:
F- Off!

Suburgatory VS Pretty In Pink

Every time I watch the show Suburgatory on TV,
I can't help but think of Molly Ringwald in Pretty In Pink.
Jane Levy MUST be playing on our love for Miss Molly.

OH HAPPY DAY

Today is a good day.

I cannot shake the Beatles song Yellow Submarine... it is embedded in my brain thanks to Libby and her genius and generosity.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAKE NO MISTAKE

P!nk could be friends with us.

Without question.

Anyone who writes and sings like this is a-ok by me.  The lyrics to this new song really move me.

I have been searching for a theme song as I seem to have outgrown this one.

Viola.... my Fashionista Filmstar bestie pointed this one out for me...

I love P!nk even more since she announced she is doing another duet with my secret boyfriend Marshall Mathers......

For a long time my favourite Eminem song was Without me.....

Now, of course it is ..... so good.......

TRAVELLING COMPANION

Another item of note.  My travelling companion was of course Kevin Costner.

Lately I take him everywhere.

GIDDY UP

Parker here.

I just spent the last week in San Antonio.

A few items of note:

It was the Texas Association of High School Football Coaches annual meeting and despite my evolution as an urban pseudo-artsy.... there is nothing quite like a hot, dumb football player (now coach) to get me going.  This has not changed since 1983.  You can take the girl outta .......

Eric Taylor was NOT there, and if you do not get the Friday Night Lights reference we may not be able to be friends since it is the BEST SHOW EVER.

Finally, San Anotnio reminded me of the single best outfit I used to wear in the late 1980..... white cotton cable knit sweater (likely from Bliss in the bottom of Bayshore), jeans, the sweater tucked in, a big belt, shoulder pads, big hoop earring and a kicking pair of cowboy boots.

I could not miss the 80's more than I do at this very minute.

INSTANT HAPPINESS

When I am in need of Instant Happiness (these days it seems more often than not)
I watch this video of one of my fav songs - EVER.
To be truthful, in my minds eye, I am on the xylophone not stinky looking KT Tunstall.

IF I WERE 13 AGAIN

If I were 13 again, I'd love "One Direction".
I just know I'd be completely boy crazy over these guys.
Particularily boy crazy over the Mick Jagger wannabe - second last guy on the right of this photo:

but I am not 13 anymore - thankfully.

FIELD OF DREAMS AND OTHER SIGNS

I am trying to figure out the connection to Kevin Costner that Parker and I both share.
We loved Kevin Costner growing up.

Then we both broke up with him when he became a mid-life crisis ass.
Parker and I believed the break up was permanent...until...Kevin's Whitney Houston eulogy.
Now we are loving him again.
Ya, we are fickle that way.

There has been, what so far seems to be, an unexplainable pattern of Kevin Costner signs happening to us.
So I am putting this post out there - as an attempt to keep us focused.
I am commited to eyeing every corn field I drive past, in the hopes....
Build it and he will come.

note: I just remembered as I typed!!! Parker used to sell corn as a kid - OMG spooky!

JOHN HUGHES 2012

I watched "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist" for the 4th time the other night.
It was on TV again.
This movie gets my vote as truly worthy of this blogs love.
Michael Cera is my boy.
I adore Michael Cera and my heart simply melts when I see him.
Not in a Cougar way, by any stretch of the word, but in a motherly way.
Michael Cera reminds me of my older son, when he was younger, in those fleeting moments when he was not being an ass.
How can the bloggers of Lies John Hughes Told Me not love this movie?
I was hooked the moment Nick O'Leary's (Michael Cera) cell phone rang with The Cure as his ringtone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK

Today is Mick Jagger's 69th birthday.
The Ol' Devil's age is even dirty ;)
This year The Rolling Stones celebrate 50 years as Rockstars.
I love The Rolling Stones but I LOVE Mick Jagger.
I have LOVED Mick Jagger since I was 6 years old.
Not this Mick Jagger -

THIS Mick Jagger -

and yes, I am aware I have issues....and yes, I am aware that he is adrogenous....and yes, I am aware that he behaves badly....and yes, I am aware that he has a criminal record....and yes, I am aware that he is a woman/man -izer....and yes, I do not care.
I LOVE Mick Jagger.

JULY AND KATIE HOLMES

I am not a true fan of the month of July and I am not usually a fan of Katie Holmes.
But what do these two things have in common?
To me, July is a month of frantic behaviour.
People cram everything and anything, at lightning speed, in to the month of July.
Katie Holmes did the same with her divorce from Tom.

I am a big advocate for pulling the plug without drama.
I would'nt have thought she had it in her but Katie has done exactly that.
Hats off to her.
She came, she saw, she conquered...now... if only... she would go off in to the sunset.
Sadly, I think we will only see more of her now.
